Level 3 - International Team Coaching License

What does the International Team Coaching License Involve? – ‘Course of Learning’

The International Team Coaching License introduces coaches to a two-part residential course of learning designed to develop the requisite knowledge and skills to support effective coaching with Elite Senior players (19+ years) and or elite youth players playing in top level competitions .

Both parts consist of six days of development (total 12 days) separated by a 12 month gap.  The gap between part one and two allows coaches the time to apply their knowledge, gained on part one of the course, and accumulate the practical experience and skills required to achieve competency in the assessments conducted at the conclusion of part two.

The course of learning exposes coaches to the spectrum of learning areas associated with coaching Elite Senior players including:

  • Developing systems of play.
  • Advanced tactics and tactics training using functional practices, phases of play, small sided games and 11v11 formats and developing a process of coaching.
  • Physiology of football, conditioning programmes and nutrition for elite players.
  • Planning and designing an effective ‘Season Plan’.
  • Psychology in football and effective leadership.
  • Using technology and match analysis to support performance.
  • Planning, delivering and evaluating training sessions in all session formats.
  • Competency based assessments.

These learning areas are presented in both practical and theory based workshops, with more emphasis placed on coaches developing their knowledge in practical contexts.  To support the competency based assessment process, coaches are provided with interim tasks that contribute to their ongoing personal development during the 12 month gap between parts one and two of the course.

Who is the course aimed at?

Coaches with the desire to provide their players with a high quality coaching environment.  Senior coaches working with elite players in the game (National league, Premier league, International Teams) with an interest to develop their knowledge and skills or with ambitions to coach at a higher level.  Youth coaches who are interested in gaining the necessary knowledge and skills to support their players transition from elite youth competitions towards elite senior competitions.
