What does the National Academy Coaching License Involve? – ‘Course of Learning’
The National Academy Coaching License introduces coaches to a five-day course of learning designed to develop the requisite knowledge and skills to support effective coaching with Senior players (19+ years) and or players who play in Senior competitive leagues.
The course of learning exposes coaches to both the ‘how’ (coaching process, player learning etc.) and the ‘what’ (technical trends etc.) of coaching Senior players, through offering a wide range of learning opportunities ranging from ‘principles of play’ and ‘modern trends in football coaching’ to ‘how players learn’ and ‘the art of modern coaching’.
- Understanding player learning and strategies to promote learning in football
- Developing a Coaching Process to Coach effectively in functional practices, phases of play and small sided games
- Understanding Principles of Play and applying them to your coaching
- Understanding the role of the Coach both on and off the field of play
- Planning, delivering and assessing effective coaching sessions for senior players
- Competency based assessments
These learning areas are presented in both practical and theory based workshops, with more emphasis placed on coaches developing their knowledge in practical contexts. To support the accreditation process, coaches complete a competency based assessment at the conclusion of the five-day period and are provided with valuable feedback.
Who is the course aimed at?
Coaches with the desire to increase their own effectiveness in supporting their players needs in competitive senior coaching environments. Senior coaches working at all levels in the game with an interest to develop their knowledge and skills or with ambitions to coach at a higher level. Youth coaches who are interested in gaining the necessary knowledge and skills to support their players transition towards the senior competitive Level.
